yeah i have the round style mounts and im looking to converting to the older or newer style rectangle. basically i heard ford tried the round style mounts for like 2yrs and switched back to the rectangle style.

here are a couple links about what ive posted on other sites.

if you are worried...make some cables and tie the engine down...or use some short chain and do it on both side...go from the engine to the frame...

I still have a set of factory cable hold downs for a 69 chevy car.....these things ripped mounts all the time and chevy fixed it with cables...went from the head to frame on both side...

I had an old 68 chevy truck that was hell on mounts...it was a 2wd puller truck...geared really low...I would pull all kinds of stuff but I ripped mounts all the time..I cut chain and bolted it to the frame from each head...never ripped another mount...

i got a chain around the drivers side now. my grandpa had a late 50's buick or chevy car that kept going through mounts and then they just put turnbuckles in for mounts. i was thinking about doing the same but not sure how to do it. maybe just put a strong grade 8 bolt to replace the mount.
