Default 3rd Generation project truck

Hi guys I am new to the forum and just wanted to show my learning experience and get some help from the pros lol. I recently purchased a 1988 f150 xlt lariat with a 300 inline 6 from my dad who 10 years ago bought it from my grandfather (hence the name of the project). How ever this truck has had a rough life an with over 196k its been a beast, my project rebuild the tired engine (which has a blown head gasket I believe) and get this beast back to its former self. P.S. any ideas would be greatly appreciated im really new to working on trucks my knowledge is exceedingly limited.

OUCH!!!
In the intreast of expediency:
Verg: Holy crap, JCMS!!! That could change everything.
JCMS: Yep!
Verg: How do I know how to tell what's really going on?
Anything else I should be looking for, or need to keep in mind?
How much can I do, & what needs to be done by a shop?
Will I have have to hit pop up for a loan? What do you think this might end up costing?

(If I knew, I'd expedite further & tell you)

You could open a free account on Photobucket. Upload the Pic from your computer (Photobucket will take you through the steps). It will generate Image sharing codes. Cut & paste the code it gives you for sharing a full size image to forums onto your post.

To reduce Pic size, you need to open pic in a photo editing program, then crop or reduce overall size. You can save by replacement of original Pic or as a new pic & retain the original too, after altering.

That's about the limit of what I know & how I deal w/ it. Maybe someone else has a better way.

Default I know lol

I know the head is probably cracked and the head gasket is probably blown but I want to truly learn how to work on these trucks. Although I dont have alot of money I I know it will be expensive that is why Im gonna take my time and do it right. Lastly the way I see it if I cant pay for it I dont deserve it. Oh and thanks everybody for the info on how to post pics I'll try and see what happens.

It's not that big of a deal. I got a head from the junkyard for $100.

We like pics.
