302 to 351?
I am in need of a new engine, and I have a 92 f150 with a 302 and an e40d, I found a donor truck, which is an 89 f150 351 with a c6.
Question is, what is the best way to do this? I would prefer to keep the e40d solely bc of the overdrive, but am willing to keep the c6 with the 351 if the e40d won't bolt up and run right with the 351. What kind of problems am I looking at?
OR should I forget it and keep looking?
Thanks guys

Hes right...the only difference between a 302 and 351 is the firing order, brackets and whatnot on the front of the motor, and.....thats it. Well maybe a couple small things but the trans will bolt up the same. Wiring is the same...might oughta use the ECM out of the donor truck too. Hang onto that c6, thats a bulletproof transmission, one of the best they ever built.
I am looking into swaping a 351W into my truck as well. I have a 1991 4x4 with a 5 speed manual with a 302. It has 130,000 on the ticker. I plan to put a new engine in it. I like the 302 but I would like a little more power. I plan to buy a running 1991 truck that came with a 351, purchase a crate 351W for 1991 and just switch the accessories over to the new long block and bolt it in. Can anyone tell me what issues I might face? Will I have to switch over the exhaust pipes as well or will the stock exhaust from the 302 bolt up to the 351W exhaust manifolds? Any ofthe advice would be greatly appreciated as well.
the 351 and 302 are identical in every way except the 351s intake is 2 inches wider due to a taller deck height...thats why you need the 351 accessories...the brackets offset this difference...I have put a 351 where a 302 used to be and used the 302 brackets and it was a pain in the you know what...

Naw thats not what I meant....You wont be able to use the c6 with the computer out of the donor truck being as the e4od is electric. I just meant if your buying the truck for all the parts I'd keep the c6, if its good its worth a few bucks.
