Default 302 to 302HO

Ok I am a new member and I have looked all over the internet and called multiple people, including Ford and can not seem to get a straight forward answer. I have a 94 HO motor from a mustang with 40k original miles on it and i want to put it in my 93 f150. I need to know if i need to get my computer reprogrammed to run the injectors in the correct (351w) firing order. Please help!

Should be the same as the 351w. If you already have the 351w in your truck then you're golden. If you have the standard 302, afaik all you'd need to do is change up the spark plugs to match the firing order, Injectors are batch fired, not sequential.

You may want to check the cam out before putting it in your truck, general consensus is that mustang cams don't make enough low end torque for a truck. The 5.0 thread would be a good place to read up on engine mods for a truck.

No because a '93 doesn't fire the injectors in any order; they're bank-fired (4 open at a time). And because a '93 EEC can't be reprogrammed. If your truck originally had a 5.0L, the later firing order is NOT CORRECT for your truck. It will run, but not as well as with the correct '93 camshaft. If it originally had a 5.8L, the 5.0L will run, but not as well as with a 5.8L.

If i bought the computer that goes to the mustang for that year would it run my truck or would i be better off using the computer from a truck that had a 5.8 in it?

The computer you have will run that engine fine. You will need to use the 93 wiring harnesses and sensors. You might possibly have to swap the 93 intake on to the HO engine.
I hope you're not doing all this hoping for some kind of performance upgrade - the mustang camshaft is designed to make a little car go fast; it isn't designed to produce the bottom end torque to get a truck moving.
So it usually ends up making your truck a real dog off the line.
Unless the mustang motor has been built up and cammed etc., in which case it won't produce enough vacuum for your SD management system to run it properly. All in, a mustang engine doesn't belong in a truck; it's not an improvement - unless you change the cam to work with your truck in which case you're right back where you were.

In the case of these engines HO is more about a different firing order to allow it to rev higher smoothly; it's not some big overall performance change to the motor. Just a different camshaft, basically.

The only reason I am doing this is because my motor in the truck now is shot and I have this other motor sitting here. I just need it to buy me spme time to rebuild the 302 in my truck now. I just cant be down a truck the whole time im rebuilding a motor.

Well, you don't have to rebuild the whole thing. You could order a better suited camshaft and reuse the mustang roller tappets in the HO block, or when you're doing the swap pull the truck cam out of your engine and put it in the new motor.

As for swapping in the mustang computer, people typically do that as part of an upgrade to MAF, a quick search shows you probably wouldn't want to use the 94 'stang ecm though.

Some great answers. I'm assuming like the thread title states you're moving from 302 to 302HO. As said before injectors will be fine with no modification. Again as stated replace the mustang cam with a good roller cam. Lifters, pushrod, rockers can be reused from the 302HO motor. Move the truck intake, oil pan, valve covers and possibly harmonic balancer and flywheel to the 302HO motor. If the distributor from the 302HO plugs into truck harness use it, otherwise you'll need one for 95 F150. You'd have a nice 40,000 mile motor, no need to rebuild the old one.
