I have no idea how much the 302 is putting out, it isn't from the truck. It came out of a late 90's mustang at Roush.. So if 400 is too much what can I do to it without rebuilding the engine then?

it puts out 250 or so. you can get a supercharger for it for about a grand i think that is the only way to hit close to 400 hp

With the right set of heads and cam he could turn close to 350 especially if porting was involved but far as super charging he would really need forged internals unless he ran less than 10 psi but it'd still be pushing it.

yeah I would recommend a full engine rebuild. go get a 302 block from the junkyard and do a total build up from the oil system to the cooling valves and ect. then put a supercharger then if all possible a turbo but i doubt that will ever happen. i would guess about 4 grand? to get a 302 to accept a supercharger or turbo. it would be cheaper to get a shot of nitrous oxide and hope you don't blow the engine in the proses

its possable to put that much pressure on the engine but if it goes it will go big and you will need a new engine and possibly a new truck

I just found this artical about the new 2011 boss 302 its pushing 444 hp
so getting an old 302 is going to take some work i guess supercharger and a 200 shot of nitro might get you there cheap
