1994 4.9l,
148,300 miles, drive 100 miles a day, usually another 300 on the weekends. No problems, no oil burning. Only thing I've fixed is valve cover and side cover gaskets and some radiator hoses.

I have a 1995 and just passed 200,000 miles. Engine is running strong. Parts I've had to replace:
Clutch - 4? The first one was around 60,000 miles and the dealership did a horrible job that lasted for about 3 months and cost a grand. After that I learned to do for myself.
-power steering pump, squeaking at 100,000 miles
-Rear shackles
-Both front and rear gas tanks and fuel pumps (just did the rear tank last week)
-starter, 3. After markets kept getting the pin stuck out.
-water pump, thermostat, fan clutch
-Front suspension due to an accident at 60,000+ miles. Also a new hood and bumper.
-later replaced front suspension bushings
-New oil pan
-New break lines
Otherwise its been routine maintenance. I've done most of the work accept for the oil pan, break lines, and suspension work. Rust is present around the rear fenders and starting in a few other places. I suspect this truck will fall apart well before the engine dies. It's been great fun!

How did you replace the side cover? The mechanic I use a lot mentioned I would have to lift the engine.
