Default 1995 Flareside issue

I'm helping a friend out and here's the issue. It's 4wd and what ever shop they took it to used an oversize bolt and cracked part of the transmission. I'm not too sure which bolt but the owner says it needs to be replaced so I'm on the hunt for a suitable substitute. Which years and I get for a 95 5.0 4wd truck to swap over or can I modify a 2wd version with the original parts off the truck?

Any 4x4 from our gen could have a transmission you could use. Just check junk yards for a truck in our year range with 4x4 and that transmission (unless you want a different one I guess). Why go through the trouble of transferring an entire truck of parts when you can just do one big one and be done.

No what I was asking is does it matter if it's a 2wd transmission to bolt up to the old 4wd box in the truck. So pretty much gotta hit junkyards looking for a 95 F150 and any 4x4 correct? What other years would match up if I can't find the 95?

Year range as in 9th gen 92-96. I've been told a 4x4 transmission is shorter to compensate for the t-case so that's why look for a 4x4. Anyone can jump in and correct me.

I think 8th gem might work too but Sean or someone else is gonna have to say that for sure. I have a 92 4x4 so I don't know about much else.

2wd won't work unless you want to disassemble both transmissions entirely to swap the tailshaft. You also need to figure out which transmission it has.
