After reading the responses and talking with a chap here, the transmission is coming out. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate all of the thoughts and ideas. I'll follow up when I learn what the problem is.

Thanks again!

FYI - The clutch is toasted but everything else is good. A clutch kit is on the way, thanks again for all of the thoughts and feedback.

hello jvgolfman here. problem: 1990 F150 truck 4.2L flat 6. would not shift, no space between the pedal and the floorboard. new parts; clutch kit, flywheel, slave cylinder.
truck would shift well for a day or two,but would then lose the space pedal to floorboard. i've had it back to the mechanic three times with the same result. my neighbor is a retired mechanic and noticed the rubber boot was missing from the fluid reservoir possibly allowing air to foul the system. i'm force to take it to another mechanic recommended by my neighbor.

Look at the dates. Don't revive old threads.
