Default 1990 4.9L timing

What is the best way to set the timing after removing the distributer. Don't ask. It was a project gone wrong and need to get the timing set to get the beast back on the road.

Thanks

Most normal people would have marked it before removal and just stuck it back in lining up the marks. I guess you'll have to bring the motor up to TDC on #1 and stab it in with the rotor pointing at #1 on the cap.

Pull #1 plug and put your finger over the hole. I turn the motor with a socket on the balancer bolt. When it blows out watch the harmonic balancer the mark will be coming up to TDC on the scale.
