I have a 2016 xl sport. I don't like the look of the grill and was wondering if something like a lariat sport grill will mount in place without modification?

yes or aftermarket I am putting a Rigid grille in mine next week but already promised my Lariat 3 bar to nephew

I looked at some of those aftermarket, then I reminded myself that I have an XL and it will make no sense to me to spend that kind of money on an XL. I like some of the factory grills and I Believe that will be a simple and inexpensive way to make my truck look a lot better

Not bad. I'm hoping for the lariat sport, that one posted is my second option. I'm still figuring out how to navigate this forum. Gotta find the classifieds, and I'm not finding a short cut to my threads

gstout61 there's nothing wrong with spending a little change on your XL. I bought my Lariat grill off Quirk Parts. Installed it and I love it.

Not sure why you would go through the trouble. Those two grills look very similar to me. An XLT Sport grill would look better IMO. Ebay usually has new Take-offs for good prices.
