Thanks
  • Tire size exists in the BCM & PCM (which FORScan can't program)
  • Hypertech Speedometer Calibrators & Custom Tunes change both BCM & PCM so that no DTC is triggered.
  • When tire size is only changed in BCM, a persistent PCM P160A DTC is often produced because of the mismatch between BCM & PCM tire size.
  • The tire size change in BCM alone is enough to calibrate the speedometer for bigger/smaller tires but the persistent DTC will remain.
  • Changing tire size in BCM for 2017+ F150s will often cause persistent wrench icon on instrument cluster whereas 2015-2016s will only have the PCM DTC.

Note: There is a procedure in IDS (dealership software) for PCM re-learn that when executed tells PCM to re-learn the tire size, etc. from BCM so that this new tire size is the same in both modules. I have a test beta of FORScan that has this procedure but none of the 3-4 guys I've shared it with have successfully gotten rid of the persistent DTC and/or wrench icon on the instrument cluster. While executing this PCM re-learn procedure in this test beta has been able to remove the PCM P160A DTC, it has also introduced another TCM DTC that wasn't present to begin with. I'm still working with the FORScan developers on why this is happening and I will give these members who tested this any new test beta they give me until we find a solution.

Livnitup I know we have discussed this via email when I tried the beta version to clear the DTC in the PCM, which didn't work for me, nor did I get a new DTC in the TCM.

I'm curious as to what DTC others are getting in the PCM after making the tire size change in the BCM. As you mentioned in your post, the DTC in question is P160A. However the DTC I get is U0422.

Again, what DTC are others getting? I thought I remember some others getting the "U" code as well back when this was first discovered.

Multiple people ended up with P1635 in TCM

The P160A in the PCM and TCM are just for the '17's as far as I know. The reset of the PCM clears the P160A there but is still present in the TCM.

Hello.

This is my first post on this site and I just wanted to thank those who have worked so long and hard to figure all of this out.

I've successfully installed an OEM alarm and remote start and enabled the dash control for my 2017 STX using the information from this thread. No dealer trip was required!

Thank you so much for your efforts. It is very much appreciated.

On the google spreadsheet under the APIM, there's a way to show the outside temp on the display. Will it show up when CarPlay is front most? Any pics of this mod?

Hey Livnitup,

Did you employ a particular (and shareable) technique to discover all of the your seat module parameters? Seat modules on Lariats without the multi contour adjustments are different and I'm wondering what it would take to uncover the TED run time, fan speed, temperature, cooldown ect...

When the truck starts up and the module goes through it's power on self test, the RPM on the TED goes full-on for a few seconds. Now that summer is over it will be winter tomorrow and figuring those parameters out can benefit a lot of us that have lariats, the owners just don't realize it yet.
