Default Parisitc Draw help!

My 95 f150 drains the battery in about an hour. Last time i drove it, I came to a stop and turned the heater on. Engine stalled. All lights and IC go dim then truck stalls. Shut the truck off, took the key out, and there is a fast clicking sound coming from under the dash with the key out. Its to the right of the fuse panel right under where the air vent is on the right side of the steering wheel. On top of that, my positive battery cable looks charred and the insulation is burned back about an 1/8 inch. Any ideas? Overcharge maybe?

Try pulling fuses one at a time until the clicking stops. That will at least get you into the right circuit.

Found the circuit. Controls the courtesy light and dome lights. 15 amp fuse. Fuse looks to be ok.

Now you can try disconnecting the lights one at a time the same way, while you are searching for the problem.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it! I will have to do that tomorrow. Just out of curiosity, is it possible this could be a big enough draw to drain a full battery in an hour?

It certainly could drain the battery. Now that you mention it, you might want to check the relay in that circuit first, that could be the source of your problem. That's based on the clicking noise. I don't really have any knowledge of what is in that circuit, but a bad relay sounds likely.

Thanks again. I'm going to see if I can find a wiring diagram that shows what all this entails.

Courtesy and dome light also has the speedometer in the circuit.
