I got this truck about a month ago and I really haven't had a chance to so much with it. It's a 96 5.8 2wd auto. I crawld under it on Saturday to see where the trans was leaking from and I saw this black box with a blinking red light on it hooked to oxygen sensor, the light just blinks at you like it's some kind of 007 bomb or something. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? The only thing i have ever seen hooked to an o2 sensor like that is an A/F ratio gauge which this truck doesn't have anywhere. BTW I'm new here and I hate this is my first post but I'm stumped. There isn't any arming on the box at all
I took it off, and cleared the codes, drive it about 300 miles and lean code never came back. It actually runs smoother without it and doesn't affect fuel mileage
I don't know what the box is, I took it off and nothing changed. I'm starting to think it was something to trick the computer. The rims are American racing. They are as close to the original wheels as I could find and afford.
