Default F150

The baterry guage jumps way above average and theres a licking noise coming from under the hood when the guage jumps around we replaced the alternator battery is good also anybody had this problem before or can think what it would be

What year is your truck and what engine do you have?

I can't offer any solutions for a fix
But I can ask you to provide some vehicle information so that those smart people can help you.
Not all F150's are equal, based on your thread title.

Probably good to provide your motor size. What year. Current state of battery ("battery is good" is hard to trust with so much other missing information). Any other maintenance things that have been done in general (if you have any of that).
It's not easy to troubleshoot via the internet that a random vehicle has a ticking sound and battery gauges that isn't stable.

Something I like to ask a person on the internet to consider is:
If you walked into a service department or parts counter, what words would you use to seek help.
Those words would be useful as text for internet helpers.
