Default Crap Headlights

I spent over an hour polishing the headlight lenses today and I replaced the bulbs with a pair of Sylvania Xtravisions, but I went out to try them tonight and they are still crap.

Has anyone any recommendations for good, bright bulbs or HID upgrades, etc? Or maybe some good old halogen driving lamps or an LED light bar?

you can have the best and brightest bulbs...but if the lenses are milky or yellow...

you need to spring for NOS, or some of the glass refits.

Make sure you have correct voltages at the socket.

Thanks. I'll see if I can get some glass replacement lenses.

Standard 9007 bulbs will be great with NEW LENSES! When I purchased my truck the head lights were yellow and foggy. I think a Bic lighter would have cast more light. I purchased lenses from online, replaced them with stock bulbs and I was amazed by the difference. I would start with changing lenses and standard bulbs before purchasing $$$ bulbs. Just my two cents.

The bulbs I got were about $12 each so hardly broke the bank. I didn't realise lenses would make that much of a difference!

Gotta say, replacement headlight housings were some of the best money I've spent on my truck. All the years of UV exposure and degrading polycarbonate lenses permanently reduces their transparency. No amount of polishing is going to change that, it only serves to remove the outside oxidized layer.
I just bought the most inexpensive chinese assemblies off Ebay, still a world of improvement from the 20+ year old ones I replaced.

Have to agree. I pulled a set off of a yard car for a song and dance that looked to be practically brand new, threw some clear coat on them and put in a set of phillips crystalvision ultra bulbs. 10 times better than the crappy stock ones.

Oh that's a bummer I dont think it's a 87-91 model headlight set. At least Amazon doesnt think it is. Would be all over that if it was.
