I have a 1989 4.9 4 speed. And i need to replace the eec. I have the numbers off it but can't find one to match. Do i need the same numbers on a new on for it to work, or can i just put in another one?

I used a 92 f-150 computer in my 87f-150! Both have the same motor and tranny. I haven't had any problems with it. I got the computer from a salvage yard.
