Default Battery Drain

I had my 89 sitting in front of the house for 4 days and went to move it today the brand new battery was dead. Charged up quick and all was well. I need to work out some kinks, new ignition switch so it will stay running and plan to check current drain. I figure I will pull connectors and fuses to find it. Any ideas where to start? Thanks. Jim

Ignition switch may be a culprit, if it somehow is powering the ACC circuit when the key is Off. The switch on mine fell apart when I changed it due to cutting out going down the road - no telling what was going on with it just before failure.
Other than that, only suggestion is to round up a DC ammeter starting with the main cable off the battery, then start pulling fuses and the like as you mentioned to find out what is drawing power when it shouldn't be.
Being a new battery, long shot but could be something goofy going on inside it?
Good luck, and keep us posted.

My battery would go dead in 3 or so days from just sitting. I bought a new battery, same thing happened. I found a parasitic draw (if spelled right) video on youtube. I tested every fuse for a draw, everything tested good. It ended up being the alternator. Replaced it with a new rebuilt one with a life time warranty from my local parts store, problem solved
