Default Sandblasting trim?

The prior owner of my p'up painted all of the "chrome" pieces on my car with a flat black paint. I like the effect, but the paint has been worn/scratched off in places. I would like to repaint them with a black paint again, but am looking for a quick way to get the remaining paint off. Can I use baking soda in a sand blaster to take it off? What is the trim made of?

Got some pics for us? If it's the chromed plastic, I've seen some doods use oven cleaner to remove the chrome from plastic when customizing headlights. I'll grab a video for you.

Forget that, I can't find the video I watched a while back.
