Default I need this part !

I need a driver side tube style support for my factory cab step(running board ) on my 1996 Ford F - 150 XLT. It is starting to rust out. Been to all of the local junk yards around Lancaster California and will continue to look. Any ideas to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. I hate to get rid of the factory cab steps because except for that support brace, they are in excellent condition. Thanks from a newbie !

Thanks for the reply ! I have seen the Tube Steps in LMC but I would like to keep the factory Cab Steps if possible. That's why I am trying to locate a rust free tube type support. Thanks for the help !

I don't have a picture but the part I need is a steel tube like bracket that connects to the driver side factory cab step and the frame of the truck.

I think I know what your talking about they go on the factory fiberglass step boards my truck has them too but don't know where you'll find them short of a junk yard. You might be able to pull yours off or get the dimensions and have a metal fabrication shop make you up a set.

Nitehawkjr, that is exactly the part I need. I have been to many junkyards here in Southern California and have not found a truck with the factory style fiberglass step boards installed, but I will continue to look. I had the same idea about having one fabricated and may very well have to go that route. There has to be one available somewhere and I hope I can locate it. Thanks for the response !

I can't think of an easier fabrication to make. just get a steel tube of the right length, put 6 bends in it and drill a couple holes and you're good to go. You have the prototype already, and all the hardware. if you have access to a torch, you would spend less time fabricating one than looking for one and removing it.
