Default cargo lamp replacement

I have a 1995 f150 and I want to replace the old sun faded cargo light with a new one from lmc. I have noticed trucks this year have both styles, either the one with the third brake light (like mine)

or the better looking one that I want to get without the third brake light
my question is the one without the third brake light seems like its shorter in length than the other one, and I don't want to spend 40 bucks on lmc to have it not even fit. Could someone who has that cargo light measure it real quick

Here is a picture of how mine is mounted. If anyone could take off their cargo light without the third brake light and post a pic on how there's was mounted I would much appreciate it

Your truck requires the third brake light. If you have inspections they might notice that and fail it.

Sorry, my truck has neither one.

Is there anyway to strip the red off of the lens, I am fine with the way it looks I just want it to look all clear, but still have it function as a brake light

Clear or white rearward facing lights are illegal unless it only comes on in reverse.

I think you are wrong on that sir. Lmc sells cargo lights that are LED and clear .look at the little street sign next to them that specifically say "street legal" and they do come on even when the vehicle isn't going in just reverse.

It's a cargo light. It shouldn't be on while driving and if it is yes you can get a ticket for it. It's street legal because it isn't nomally on while the truck is in motion.

I think you thought I meant having my cargo light clear and having clear bulbs in it. I want it to look clear when its off, and have red bulbs so when I hit the brakes it shows red lights not clear ones

That I think is acceptable, no sure though. It just can't be white (clear) light.

I have the 3rd brake light too and if I remember from my previous one, yes, the 3rd brake light IS wider than the non... by like 2", the size of the red part of your light. Call LMC on those LED's you are looking at there and ask them what the width is from hole to hole, they'll tell you or even email them.

Also, I've heard of having an LED on the 3rd light will set off the ABS light for some reason. Not quoting anyone, just saying I've heard of it happening. I replaced my bulbs with LED bulbs and it set mine off. kept the cargo lights LED and put my brake back to a regular bulb and everything is fine again.
