Question Vacuum System

Are there any vacuum system wizards out there?

On my '93 f150 between the heater and battery is a 1 lb coffee can that is loose in its mounting clips which has once vacuum line into it and one out:
first, what is this some kind of vacuum storage or buffer unit?
Second, any suggestions how to get those clips tightened again? The inner fender is really flimsy, I learned this when I tried tapping the clips tighter.

Also, between the battery and the radiator, down low, is a hard plastic unit that is crumbling away with one vacuum line is and one vacuum line out:
First, is this another vacuum storage or buffer unit?
Second, where can you get them, this one is literally dissolving away. I am assuming it is from the heat of the radiator.

Does anyone know of a readable diagram for the vacuum system on a '93?

Is it me, or is the vacuum system on these truck far too complex?

Go look at anything from 1985 if you want to see a complex vacuum system.
