So….was driving and the truck (1990 f150, 302w, manual transmission) got stuck in gear would go back to neutral…felt like 3rd or 4th but I’m not sure. I pulled over got a screwdriver and I aligned the shifter rails. They were very hard to move, but I got them to where I believed it was neutral. Start it up still in gear…had it towed to a shady shop that was the closest to me. “Shop” (I put that in quotes because they don’t even look like a shop)…. says I need a new transmission; I think it’s the shift forks….ideas? The trans worked flawlessly before, and 2 years ago I did the clutch (I put a Luk in) and the master and slave cylinder. No gears made noise before this except for the occasional grinding but that’s a problem between the steering wheel and seat….what do yall think? Go get a second opinion?
