Hey guys need a little help. I have a 4x4 91 f150 with a 5.0 mated with a e4od. I have a tranny issue but not really sure where to start.

While fixing other stuff I've replaced the tps and egr valve. I have a tick that sounds like a lifter coming from the front side of the trans. When I put it in drive it goes away as long as the truck is not moving it also goes away while in od going down the road. Also shifts funny at low speeds. Today while going up a hill I gave it more gas to maintain speed and it upshifted to 2 out of 1st causing it to slow down then shifted back to 1st. No cel. No flashing od light. Any help would be appreciated.

update: did a complete fluid change and filter. No change.

Edit: Fixed the shifting issue or should I say it fixed itself. One massive backfire put a massive hole in the muffler. Shifts just fine, has more power to. who knew
