Default Starting Issues

As the name says I am not a ford fan but I am attempting to work on one for the son of my neighbor. It is a '92 F 150 extended cab 4x4 with the 5.8 and auto tranny. Absolutely no mods made to it. He has replaced many parts on this truck due to it sitting through the various Oklahoma weather changes and most things going bad on it because we all know on a truck that has been sitting once you fix one thing the better running engine finds another weakness to exploit. While my neighbor was driving the truck she got approximately 2 miles from her house and the truck died on her. It managed to take itself off of the road into a ditch, which by the way scared the crap out of her, and will not restart. I have checked the Inertia switch and it does not seem tripped. By that I mean I am not able to push the reset button down so that is what I am assuming and yes I know what it means when you assume. Another forum a coworker found said it would be the Ignition control module and since it was not a bank breaker I went ahead and ordered one but still nothing. The check engine light is on and no I have not used the paperclip method yet to get the DIC's. Anyone got any ideas?

Get codes. Check for spark and check fuel pressure.

Something simple to check but may not relate or may have already tried. If the truck has duel tanks, maybe one of the fuel pumps crapped out. Try flipping the switch to the second tank.

It sounds like the truck died thus the power steering and brakes and she wasn't able to keep it on the road while coming to a stop. Can you give us any more symptoms to the truck, there are pretty endless possibilities to the truck stalling while going down the road.
