Default power steering pump

I own a 1993 ext cab long box. My power steering pump is winning really bad. I stopped in at my local parts store to price a new one "$100.00" and was asked if it was standard or metric threads. Is there a difference between a Canadian and US model? And where can I decode my vin # ? Thanx

Okay managed to Vin the truck. Shows it as a flareside not correct, # of doors zero, not correct. But most of the other stuff rite. Now knowing that it is a US built truck I am going assume the the power steering pump is standard thread. CORRECT?

Ford power steering pumps in general seem to be loud, not so much on newer fords, but around our year model. My 01 ranger had a loud pump, it was fine. My 96 has a loins pump, and it's fine. I've heard of people replacing them and it getting quieter or staying the same, it seems hit or miss. So unless its just that bad, I'd leave it alone. Have you checked the power steering pump fluid? And as far as the thread type, I don't know.
