Default Flames and back fire 4.9

Just did an engine swap and put it all back together. But it runs rough and the exhaust gets super hot and turns cherry red and flames come out the egr port in between the cats and has no power.
The engine was just rebuild with a bigger cam and punched 30 over. The cam is a comp cam with 260/260 and a .447/.447
I took the distributor out twice put it on TDC and stabbed it I called my buddy and he said I may have put it in 180 out. Is there a way to make sure it's not a 180 out? Any help would be helpful

The exhaust valves are still open when its firing. Be sure you are on the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke on #1. The cam probably may have too much lift and duration for the stock timing so it would need to be pushed back, but in an electronic controlled engine it may not work.

I would have to agree with the timing, my distributor was loose and slid out of time which caused my engine to overheat super quick and could not get up to 10 mph.
