Default E4od shifting issues

Hey guys new to the thread and I've had some issues with my brand new to me 94 f150 with the 4.9l engine and automatic transmission. It's shifting hard from 1st to second and sometimes going into drive or reverse. I've looked up countless threads but couldn't find an exact fix. Possible issues could be VSS (my speedo seems to act normal), TPS (just replaced still does it had one heck of a time getting it off they were so tight), and MLPS (I cleaned with electrical parts cleaner) any other possible causes? Could it be a mechanical Issue? My CEL is on and my code reader should be in tomorrow so I can find out why that is. Also not sure if this matters but my gear shifter is broke off where the OD button would be.

Hey. So I had similar issues and it was all because I blew the fuse in the fuse holder in the cab. The fuse panel is on the drivers side dash. Check all your fuses as I don't know which one it is. Fuses cost nothing and if that doesn't fix it then tackle the more expensive stuff. Good luck!

get the codes read first... could be something electrical (sensor) related or could be something in the valve body.

526 - does not show up on code list

542 - Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on – – Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

556 - Fuel pump relay primary circuit fault – Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

625 - Solenoid/circuit failure – Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) current is low – Transmissions

631 - Overdrive Cancel Light circuit problem – Transmissions

sounds like there is a wiring problem, start checking fuses, tracing wires and checking power and grounds.

Fix the gear shifter. A short in there could be causing an issue. Possibly. But you'll want to fix it eventually anyway so if it works you'll get 2 birds with the one stone and if it doesn't it wasn't a waste of time.
