Just so you know, I did find something on this. Look at the top posts in the pictures, part of the same thread. I couldn't seem to quickly confirm it or not, but I'd guess that if this was an issue, I would feel and hear the torque converter locking and unlocking, or it would just stay unlocked. This could just be a wide spread rumor, or maybe it has some truth to it. Ill look into it more, although I've never bad issues with my flashers on and truck running.

If you read the entire post theres no proof of it. and something like that ford would relese a ntsb report for sure on that. there is no link to the brake lights to the toqure converter other then a switch for reverse and park and thats in the columb i beleve.

I don't really buy it either, but I just wanted to put that out their. I guess we know at least this "master mechanic" didn't pull this idea out of his Butt. Lol

Spreading rumors is never a good thing. Reasarch the proper channels and make an educated guess. if you know how the system works you can see theres no way baring some massive electrical short that can casue any harn by operiating the blinkers.

I wasn't trying to spread a rumor, I was just doing a quick search on the subject to see if anything came up, something did, so I figured I'd share it with him so he could look into it also. And I don't know how the system works, but that would be my next step to see if this is even possible, or just drive with my hazards on and see if anything abnormal happens. But, I'm sure that if this was truly a problem, there would be a recall on it, and whenever you see a thread pop up about what problems are common with the truck, something that bad would be mentioned.

Does the computer tap into the brake light switch in any way?the one on the pedal? That would sense if it did, but I don't know. I'm just wondering how does the computer know you hit the brakes to tell the torque converter to unlock, just good info to know in the future.

Do your research...make your own guess if you dont beleve me. i dont care if you dont. yes the toqure converter is electronicly controlled. id also imagine that ford being the giant company they are would relese a ntsb report for such a major dsign flaw in there most popular trucks. the interwebs a big place full of dumbasses. think about it for awhile figure out how the system works then get back to me ok.
