You would think, or something in the key or wiring for relay. But with key turned forward, everything had power that needed power. It just wouldn't start.

Have you replaced that fender relay/solenoid yet?

I may have read something wrong. Are you taking about the fender mounted one?

Yes, everything worked with the automatic. Then put a standard in and it wouldn't crank. Replaced starter twice relay three times key switch twice and clutch switch twice. You still have to bypass relay period!

As dumb as it sounds it might still be a bad relay/solenoid. My friends old mercury went through three "new" ones before it worked last time it wouldn't start. Another friends grandpa went through six, SIX, on his 86 f150 last time he had that issue.

To me it sounds like all the wires attached to it might not be getting the power they're supposed to. So either the relay/solenoid is bad, or the wire terminals aren't all getting good connection.

Everything worked with the automatic, how could it all of a sudden go bad?

Murphy's law. Last year I had a no start issue and I went over everything about 50 times. I did fuel system tests, ignition component tests, changed suspect parts, etc. I tested the ignition coil over and over and over and over and over and always tested as working. On a whim I decided to throw on the old one I keep around just in case, started right up. Switched back, no start. Tested again twice. Tested good once and bad once. Replaced it, no more coil issues.

Crap just fails for no reason. Try a known good one if you can. Otherwise, buy a new one and see if it works.

All parts were good! Truck ran the day I pulled it all out. I don't think you understand, I was using parts that already worked, new parts and parts from my 95 that was on a running vehicle. Everything had power with key forward, but when turned to crank position it wouldn't turn over unless you jumped the fender mounted relay.
