Default Driveshaft/U-Joint

Hey guys. 95 f150 4x4. Automatic. Driving to work and the u joints sheared off. Awesome. Obviously I need to replace them but also need to replace this part that's bolted on the rear diff as it was damaged as well. Can anyone tell me what's it's called or where to find one besides a wrecking yard? Thanks in advance.

It does kind of look like the u joint just snapped and left the caps inside. Might wanna take a punch and see if you can drive them out.

The piece on the rear diff is usually called the companion flange

just Curious, both my '87 and '96 4.9s have the old school one piece yoke that bolts directly to the pinion shaft. Is that a V8 thing?

You might have gotten lucky and that flange piece is OK. Gotta look to see if the ears got bent or not. Even then, I've bent them while hammering out U-joints and heated/bent them back before on super rusty jobs using a calipers to ensure the cross dimension is OK. I'm sure its not the best option but you do what you gotta do to get it together, after all the U-joints are there to allow for misalignment and what do you have to lose if you can't find the flange right away and need the truck?

The flange bolts I've had best luck using a 12mm box end wrench and hammering till those let go, those bolts have always been a fight in my experience.

It is not uncommon in a U-joint job to need to sand the ID of those bores to clean up the rust or take a round file and clean up any burrs/galling from when they came out. In fact, I've never changed U-joints without having to clean up those bores at least somewhat so the snap ring seats properly and bores are ready to accept the new U joint bearing caps.
Good luck!!
