Doing it by hand like I've done twice in the past, get some long nice quality breaker bars cause they are great for breaking loose those rusty cross member bolts. Ohh and remember to set the parking brake or chock the wheels with a block of wood so the truck won't run you over when you're under it.

Yeah no assistance available and no air tools available. Got a jack and block of wood for engine. Already pulled shifter out and found both the boots were previously damaged. All the bushings washers and pins were wore out or gone. The front plug on passenger side had been knocked out. Got another top plate and rebuild kit for it. Looks like 5 bolts on driver side and 5 on passenger side mounting the crossmember to the frame, then the two on the trans mount to crossmember. Two bolts on the starter and I've only found 5 on trans to engine bell housing. 2 on the driver side two on the top and one on the passenger side. Does anyone know what size the bolts are and if their standard or metric?

They are metric, I think 14mm

And 1 of the starter bolts counts as 1 of the 6 bolts for the bell housing.

How do you get a breaker bar with socket on the bolts that are on top of frame for crossmember when their right under the cab?

I never unbolted those ones, I just hammered the cross member out from between them to save me time.

Their contoured to fit the main crossmember. I found one picture on here but it states that it's a 4wd gusset, mine is 2wd m5r2 and has it. Does it need them?
