Default Air Box

Hi everyone, I opened up my air intake box in my 94 F250 7.5L v8.

Inside of it there is a smaller air filter under the actual full size air filter.

It seems to be attached to a line of some sort of line. I've tried pulling on it and twisting it and nothing unless I'm not using enough force. My 94 5.8 F150 didn't have this other smaller air filter.

And it'll be in the air box? Any way that it could cause the truck to surge? It almost sounds like its coming from the air box.

unless it got into the upper intake some how. all it does is filter the air going to and from the crank case. pull codes if your check engine lights on.
and yes on my 4.9l and 5.0l its at the bottom facing the drivers seat with the tube going out into the top of the valve cover.

Check engine light doesn't have to be on.

true but if it is pulling codes help. a lot of people tend to forget that you can pull codes on the odb1 systems
