Default 94-96 engines

I am looking to purchase a 94,95, or 96 Ford F-150 or F-250. Most used trucks in this category have between 125-225K miles.

For longevity, a good engine is key.

QUESTIONS
1) What 94,95,96 engine is the best for longevity.
2) How many miles should one of these engines last?

For longevity 300 I6 is the way to go! Mine has just shy of 200,000. I know a couple of people who have pushed 400,000 + on these engines before they die! Also the fuel mileage is great I average 20-22mpg in mine, vs. about 17 or less for the v8s. Not to mention you still get a lot power and torque!

Buy the one with the lowest miles and best maint records. Any engine will last when properly taken care of.

That's what I averaged out at with a few tanks ran through it some a few were a bit lower 19 20mpg but I did just go through the fuel injections system and clean it all up... Also that's not stop and go driving either that's what I average highway. In town I get around 14 maybe 15mpg so mixed 50/50 maybe around 16 17 mpg...

I averaged 20.8 hand calculated most city driving and a little bit of consistent 55-60 driving. But if I start romping around mileage goes down very fast.
