Default 4x4 swap please help!!!

I havea 1989 5.0 auto 2wd. The truck belonged to my parents then was passed down to me I am very attached to the truck but really want to make it 4wd. I've seen that the I beam 4wd swap is pretty much bolt on. And I located a donor but its and 86 with a windsor will everything still work on the 89? TIA

my truck is a 5.0 ext cab short bed im not sure what the tranny is...its factory but idk what it came with. the donor is a 86 single cab long bed standard but the man gave me a auto with a transfer case still on it. im not sure exactly what it is either. but the 86 is a independent front suspension.

pretty sure the spedo from the 86 is in the tranny where as the 88 would be in the rear end. both transmissions do however have over drive.

id personally look for the same year/ body style truck to avoid dinking around.

Take a picture of the pan. You need a transfer case '91 or older so it has the speedometer hookup.
