From what I have read you can do this but you need a new computer for the 5.8 and also a new transmission. Besides that what other problems might I run into? The reason I'm looking into this is my buddy wrecked his 5.8 lighting and told me he would sell me what was left of the truck for $500 it was rear end wrecked but it's pretty bad bent frame Broken rear axel etc etc... His truck is a 96 and mine is 94.

'96 is OBDII, so you would have to rewire the whole truck.
