Last week my 1996 xl suddenly started skipping bad. Took it to mechanic and the lifter or push rod( a little foggy on this) in cylinder 2,4,and 6 had popped out. This was fixed and I took it home. The next day skipping again, not as bad. back to mechanic. Now same problem in cylinder #1. What could be causing this to happen? I am not completely mechanically ignorant but I am not a master mechanic either. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Push rod, happened to mine. I torqued the rockers down more than the specifications called for and it didn't happen again.
