Default Recall - Speed control system modification

I recently purchased a 94 F150, I did a Vin search showing an open recall (speed control system modification), went to local Ford dealer, they couldn't find the recall in there system because of the age of the truck and said it was too old even though on Ford recall site it came up as open, anyone else had this issue? Next question, could I buy the wire harness and install it myself, I know it connects to the master cylinder.

Welcome to the forum. Is this the Recall you are referring to?

"SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM MODIFICATION" "Recall Code: 05S28"

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/200...7V336-5008.pdf

If so, print out that PDF and bring it along to the dealer or try another nearby dealership.

You are likely on your own with this. Recalls are not forever even though it still shows open. Parts are not maintained in stock for 15-20 years. If you are not having a problem, I would leave it be since you likely won't find the parts associated with the recall.

I got my 96 F150 two years ago and found this recall needed doing. This in Canada, took it to nearest Ford dealer and they put the fused parting .They did not argue at all.Canadian govt. makes these recalls stay open without time limit.
