Default Rear disc brake conversion

Thinking about converting my drums to disc on my 92 f150. Because i tow and haul heavy stuff sometimes. I've looked at conversion kits but too expensive and no parking brake. I need the parking brake because my truck is a manual. Is there a vehicle i can get the parts off that i need?

You could probably get the entire rear disc brake set up from an Explorer...I'd find a whole rear from an Explorer and just swap all the rear brake bits over.

Shouldn't make a difference as far as the years...just remove the brake drums, shoes, springs and backing plate as well as all the other parts, then you should have an idea using the Explorer rear end for comparison what can swap over...

Problem with that is the rotors won't fit on our axles. They are 5x4.5 and our trucks are 5x5.5 so you have to find a rotor that fits that now.

However, 04 E150 Brake setup should be a exact fit.

I heard about using a e150 disc brake. But the pick a part i go to doesn't have e150 just e250. But that was the plan, and i can't find a dust plate with the parking brake cheap

Yep, You can order pretty much everything you need on Rock Auto, or junkyard and look for 2003-2006 E150 with a 4.6

I have been looking myself. The only thing is I don't want to take apart my rear axle again. lol

Brake Backing plate: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Pa...rd&model=E-150

Brake Splash shield: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Pa...rd&model=E-150

Going rear Disk Brake will not be cheap. You can find kits with parking brakes for $600-$800 but this IMO is the best way as you have OEM parts not mix matched calipers and rotors from a 70's GM.
