Okay I'm thinking about replacing my shocks and struts for some performance ones. Ones that will be good at absorbing bumps and handle great (a setup great for turns and curves, and if I need anything else let me know). Their are so many brands out there and I don't have a clue, and anthing else you suggest would be great. Thanks.

 

you drive a heavy 4x4 truck, its never going to be a corner carver.

with that said, Bilstein make the best shocks IMO.

 

I'm not expecting rally car results but I'm looking for the best bang for my money. If I remeber right I saw some where that the truck weighs a hair under 4000lbs.

 

you can retrofit a mustang K-member, find you a independent rear end out of a full size ford/mercury/lincoln car of the 90's fab that into the rear of the truck.
go with a 17 inch tire in the front and a 20X10 rear wheel and tire setup with some low profile perfomance tires

you will lose 4x4 but you will have about the best handling 9th gen f150 out there.

 

Independent rear end would be cool but I never found a setup made for trucks. 4x4 is a must for winter so I can't loose that. End goal is something thats a noticeable improvement(mostly for easing the bumps then something to improve handling) but being realistic cause I know its still a truck. For starters I'll check out the Bilsteins that were recommended.

 

Beefier sway bar is the route I'd go if it was for high speed cornering in a 4x4.

 

Has anyone had any experience with sulastic shackles (for the leaf springs)? I read about them some where and the guy put them on his late 80s f250 and he claimed it improved the ride quality and handling as well as brakeing. They are pricey though.

 

those are definitely for a better ride, not for better handling. and holy expensive!
