Default I-beam drop bracket question.

Well, I am currently installing a 6" lift on my F150 since I had the beams out and was changing all the bushings, etc. I got all the old brackets and rivets taken out, and started installing the passenger side drop bracket (the one on the driver's side), started to bolt it on and I noticed some of the bolts didn't line up perfectly, no biggy...I figured I would have to do some adjusting and drilling to fix minor misalignment. Once I got it bolted on I realized that the bracket, even though it is flush on the crossmember, it looks like the area where the beam bolts into the bracket sits at a little angle rather then parallel with the crossmember. So, already p'd off about this and looking at it and taking it off and putting it back on a couple times, to see if I might have just torques some bolts more then others, it never changed the angle the bracket set.

My question is, since it's been a while since I have had a lifted OBS F150 is; Does the bracket where the I-beam bolts into it sit parallel with the crossmember or does it have a slight angle to it due to the way the beams sit with each other? Or maybe is my crossmember slightly tweaked? truck has never been wrecked or off roaded at all, maybe a couple mild trips to the coast, no jumping just cruising the dunes. Does anyone have the measurements of the widths of each side of the x-member I can get to reference mine to see if it is tweaked or bent a little?

Thanks for any info!

I have had the same problem after dropping the i-beams. do the beams appear to be tilted forward? the radius arms need to be dropped. If you have not dropped them yet, then the radius arms are trying to hold the axle up and causing the beams to tilt and the bracket i-beam bolts are probably hard to get in.

hope this helps you out

Those have to be welded to the crossmember.

Radius arm brackets are originally held by rivets but bolts come with drop brackets. If this is lift kit it should have these brackets, did you install them?

I wasn't talking about the I-beams itself at all. This was when I was first putting the drop brackets on the crossmember ( not the first time I have lifted one of these, been years though). The brackets looked ****-eyed to me, but I guess it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. Lift is on and looking good. Thanks all for trying to help.
