Default Brake help

I know it is not an F150, it is an 01 taurus, but I couldnt find any help elsewhere including the taurus forums, problem is the brakes do not engage all the way, I changed the master, bled the brakes a couple of times, tried to adjust the push rod, there seems to be more resistance when pushing the brake compared to a normally working brake, for some reason something is preventing the brakes to be fully engaged, it seems like the anti lock or something is preventing the brakes from fully engaging, and there is no abs light on, to put it simply, when I push the brakes, there is resistance, they dont fully engage and I can feel and hear them squeak when stopping. It is not the master, could the brake booster be hanging up? Or could it be something with the abs?

Increased resistance with less stopping power sounds like a booster problem. Most times you will hear a whooshing sound when the brakes are applied if it is.

I had the exact problem with my 98, brakes were getting hard to push. Had a leak at the check valve, blew into each port and I had air flow going both ways, easy fix with one pulled from the yard.

Another way to test it is to run the engine for a few seconds, turn the engine off and remove the vacuum hose but leave the check valve and pump the rake, should be enough vacuum for at least 1 power assist

I grabbed a check valve from work, if it doesnt work its off to Autozone for another booster.
