Default ABS not working

I have a 95 f150 limited slip diff 4wd. when i start the truck up the abs light comes on and then goes away normally but when brakes are applied hard in ice and snow the wheels lock and slide. I dont know much about these systems so the threads I read were not pertaining to me particullarly.

could this be a sensor on the rear diff? the light comes on at start up and never any other times so the fuse has to be good and no major problems. correct?

only the back breaks are abs right? the front are disc and the rear are drum

thanks guys

Only the back, and nobody else has ever felt theirs work either.

when i had ABS on mine, it worked great...........................

i would hit the brakes on ice and snow, the fronts would lock, and the rear with the limited slip and ABS would just keep pushing me down the highway..........

best thing I ever did was remove the ABS pump under the cab, and run strait brake lines.

The fronts lock because they do most of the stopping. My fronts lock and I feel no pulsing in the pedal for the rears.

thanks for clearing that up sean. It makes sense that there is no problem since the dash light functions normally, but I was unaware of the brake performance.

thanks guys
