Fuel pump?
If you need to drop the tank:
After dropping fuel tank, :
remove pump, check for "gunk" covering pump
reach inside tank and feel tank walls. If it feels like sandpaper grit it is rusted. If rusted, you need to assess whether it is bad enough that it requires replacement.
I had one tank that I had to replace and another I took to a radiator shop for a chemical cleaning. Before taking to shop I had to drain and let sit outside to evaporate residual fuel. Radiator guys don't like wet fuel cells.
