Default EGR delete 95 F 150 5.0

I have an old temperamental 302. From what I understand the EGR valve isn't actuating properly and it's throwing the timing off causing the truck to miss on warm starts. I was told by a mechanic today today to just delete the valve all together (he owns the a 94 bronco with a 302). I was really just hoping to see what anyone thinks and if anyone had any tips they'd be greatly appreciated.

The egr is very accessible and easily replaceable. You will spend more taking the egr system out and the stuff you need to emulate the O2 sensors. This is just my opinion.

So I replaced the EGR VALVE but I didn't replace the sensor. Is that something that should be replaced at the same time because I'm having the same problem with the missing and the sputtering

Did you pull codes to confirm the problem?

My mechanic did yes. He said that the valve wasn't opening properly and it could be causing the issue
