Default Pinging too soon....help!

OK I have a 2014 STX 3.7 with an Airaid CAI, Flowmaster muffler, and 3900 miles and am starting to hear light pinging. I don't believe it's the gas because my wifes van isn't pinging and it's much older and we use the same gass. What else could it be? Thanks for any help ya'll!

pinging is pre ignition, caused by carbon build up heating up and timing. with so few miles, double check your timing and try a different grade fuel

oh and the reason it could be pinging on one and not the other with the same fuel is different compression ratios make for different environments inside the chamber

Is the CAI a larger diameter than the factory tube? If so that could be your issue the MAF sees X amount of air but it's actually getting more air than the MAF is reading because of the larger tube causing it to run lean and ping. Put the stock intake back on to see if the issue goes away. If it doesn't try going to a different gas station and filling up. If you put 87 in it and it happens to be tuned for 89, 91, or 93 that would cause pinging also. If it is tuned and tuned for 87 the tune may need to be adjusted.

The CAI is the Airaid version that is only a new box and air filter, all factory tubing is still in place. No tune on the truck yet. I'll give another gas station a try or even a higher octane to see what happens. Thanks ya'll!
