Default Thinking about retrofitting

Well not really but thinking about putting EVOX-Rs in my '13 headlights. I do want to convert my chrome lights to black so I am left with a choice I need help with. Would it make sense to order the projectors, ballasts, etc. and paint mine or would it make more sense to buy all new and attempt to sell mine.

My truck has like 20k easy (almost no highway) miles on it and the lights are in perfect shape, how much are the OEM headlights (ballasts, bulbs, etc) worth?

Thanks.

I have seen Chrome ones go for $800 shipped. Really, if you can do the retrofit yourself, I'd just go that route.

I may, it seems the cheapest. I can get everything from TRS for right at $310 (plus shipping):
- Projectors: BI-XENON MORIMOTO EVOX-R ($150.00)
- Balasts: D2S MORIMOTO XB55 ($110.00)
- Bulbs: D2S MORIMOTO XB 5500K ($50.00)

Does anyone know what connector I need to go from my OEM harness to the Morimoto ballasts. The Morimoto has a 9006 input, what do the stock HID ballasts have?

Will I have any issues with the ballasts firing using my stock harness in Auto headlights mode?

TRS makes wiring harnesses.

Considering you already have factory HID, you should have no problem with the auto headlight mode. Your daytime running lights should be the signal lights, if that is not the case, the dealer can change them to the signal lights on any 13/14 truck.

I heard that the HID housings are harder to "unbake" than the halogen housings, in terms of getting the clear plastic covers off.

I have no personal experience though.

I use OSRAM D1S CBI bulbs and ballasts with OEM projectors. I sure like them!

I think that if I did the EVOXR projector route then I would just convert some halogen housings and sell my current setup, rather than risk boogering up an OEM HID housing.

Don't think it's true, never heard of anything like this before, and I know quite a few retrofitters.

I also want to pick everyone's brain on the FXR projectors. I really like their cut off better. Does anyone have any pictures of how big these are in the F150 HID housings? Is it just NOT realistic? I understand anything is possible with time and money but I dont want to create a headache for myself.

Pretty sure you cannot put the FXR projectors into the HIDs, you'd need to put them into a regular halogen housing, which is used a lot when retrofitting the halogens.
