How long do LED bulbs last in the headlights?
I tried different halogen bulbs (Sylvania Osram, Philips) in the past and they all seem to die after a year so I went back to stock bulbs. I had a HID retrofit on my motorcycle and the filament seemed to spit plasma on the reflector after 2 yrs. I had to replace the headlight and bulb.
It'd be nice to get more light output but not at the expense of longevity.

06 Ext Cab headlight led ? XHP50 LED
2006 Ext Cab F150:
For the XHP50 led bulbs -
These bulbs can be installed into the OEM headlight housing with out modifications ?
Is the a wire harness modification needed to connect to the factory wiring ?

H13 bulbs on a 2006 don't require any modifications. Your truck's bulb is open to the air behind, so the bulb will fit without issues.
No, unlike HID kits, LED Conversion Kits don't require any special harnesses/etc... they just plug right in. The only additional item you MIGHT need are the CANBUS Anti-Flicker adapters. This will prevent lights from either flickering or in your trucks case, possibly turning your fogs on OR having your fogs turn your highs on (I've only see folks say that happening if they run LED fogs and headlights).
So depending on which kit you are installing you shouldn't have any issues at all with your installation.
