Hey, anybody have experience retrofitting a cheapo Spyder housing like this? This is my first and I want to use the housing as a good learning ground without blowing a crap ton of money. Any issues with using this housing as a playground?

I plan on replacing most of it but I'd rather practice on a $170 pair instead of a $700 pair lol

Thanks

Here you go. As simple and plug and play as it can be.

haha yup was planning on that kit, but I'm wondering what more I can do. That kit will only take care of the projectors on the far sides of the housings, but maybe I'm looking for a schooling on what the different lights are for. I'm super aware of the benefits of retrofitting and proper HID's now I'm just trying to get more in depth.

so the obvious far sides are projectors, with that retrofit kit that will replace that projector. what is the other light there for? does this housing separate hi and low beams? (I know the retrofit kit projector has both high and low) so what could/should I do with the other light?

Thanks in advance!

Those cheapo Spyder projectors use a single low beam HID (the outside bowl) and the high beam is halogen (inside bowl)

Retrofitting the outside projector to a bi-xenon will give you a much better low beam and a HID high beam. You can keep the halogen high beam for double highs if you like as well.

I would keep the halogen high since they typically have a more yellow light and can help fill in things up close.

Are you referring to the butyl glue for resealing? Actually, question about that. What would you suggest I use for headlights that I plan on sealing and unsealing multiple times? (learning and changing things/upgrading frequently)

Also I lied, I'm going to do these... I think the chrome would look better then black on my truck.
