Retrofit Question
Hey Im new here to the forums and I think I am about ready to get some headlights retrofitted for my 2007 f150. So heres the question. Instead of retrofitting the oem headlights on my truck, I was thinking about buying this set off ebay and having the retrofit done on them. I am hesitant because I don't know the quality of the lights. What do you think? Stupid to waste the money retrofitting a set of aftermarket headlights?
Heres the link for the aftermarket headlights

Not stupid at all, I used aftermarket lamps. In fact, it made it much easier for me since the aftermarkets tend to use easier sealant (compared to Ford's ridiculous permaseal) so the lights are much easier to open. I sealed them back up using high quality butyl sealant and have had no moisture or condensation in well over 2 years. They provide a unique look too since I went with clear corners and fitted them with LEDs.
Yeah the oem lights I had retrofitted had bad micro chips in the lenses, so I bought a set of aftermarkets off ebay, and had the guy use the lenses off those, and he said they worked perfect. If I had known, I woudnt have spent the time in the classifieds looking for a set of oem lights to use, just to have to change the lenses anyway.
I would say they are up to par. Certainly the sealant isn't as good but thats okay since we replace it anyways. As for the lens, I'll look real close at them tomorrow but they look great with no scratches after 2 years and 30k miles of use. And this truck is out in the 100+ degree sun all day in the summer and in the mud, rain/snow, fog etc during hunting season so its seen it all and held up fine.
