Default Which lightbar?

Hey Guys, this is my first post so forgive me if I'm bring up an old post but I currently have a 2012 fx4 in grey.

I'm wanting to buy a lightbar (totron probably) and tossing up whether to remove a section of grill insert either above or below the ford emblem and install a 20in bar there or get a smittybuilt light bumper and mount it externally.

I've been trying to make a decision but I'm at a loss. Would be interested in seeing pics of your install ie close ups of how you mounted them.

I think either option would be good. You'll have a better burglary proof set up with the bar mounted in the grill I think. I've seen a few guys with that setup, it looks sweet. I personally think it looks better mounted above the Ford emblem.

But having them mounted on a bull bar can be fine too if you go about mounting the light with lock screws. I mounted my 4 6.5 led bars on a westin pre runner bar.

Here's a thread with some photos of 30" bars installed in or behind the upper grill:

I don't know if you would want to go this route, but this website I use for all my firefighter lights may be an option.

I have this light bar with blue and clear lights and it lights up the world. Yes it has a 36 pattern selector to select from but it does have a steady burn selection and with all the lights clear it will light up everything.

just read a police report other day of kids grabbing 6 led light bars in one night and its not really a big place... under the grill does secure them better but blocks light as well

I've just purchased the totron 22in Cree single row lightbar, still want to mount it behind the grill some where and not sure on mounts and position, I'm leaning towards the upper grill area...if you have done this would love some pictures of how they are mounted. 2012 fx4
